July 31, 2015 is the deadline for current Somalia Temporary Protected Status beneficiaries for re-registering for the 18-month extension of TPS that runs from September 18, 2015 through March 17, 2017. Those who are eligible for TPS fail to re-register by the mentioned deadline; they may lose their TPS and work authorization.Details and procedures for re-registering for TPS is available on the USCIS website. Eligible Somalia TPS beneficiaries who re-register during the mentioned registration period and request employment authorization will receive a new Employment Authorization Document (EAD) with an expiration date of March 17, 2017.
To be able to re-register, beneficiaries must submit:
- Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status (as a re-registrant, no need to pay the application fee).
- The biometrics services fee (or a fee-waiver request) if you are 14 years old or older.
- Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, regardless of whether you want an EAD.
- The Form I-765 application fee or a fee-waiver request, but only if you want an EAD. If you do not want an EAD, no application fee is required.
